Claude for marketing
Claude and ChatGPT for marketing: what we learned running an agency on them
We built TheCMO and run our own agency on it, twenty local businesses. It is not for sale off the shelf. What we learned building it is, for free, on these pages.

Five lessons, if you read nothing else
- The model is not the problem.
- Claude and ChatGPT both know marketing. What they lack is your account, your strategy and a way to investigate. Give them those and the advice stops being generic.
- Tell it what the numbers mean.
- Most wrong answers come from a number read correctly and meant wrongly. "Conversions" is only what you marked primary. Reach does not add up across ads. Recent days always look worse.
- Make it say what it did not see.
- A partial look that reads as complete is how confident mistakes happen. Ask for what it saw, what it concludes and what it could not check.
- Keep its hands off until you approve.
- Read freely. Change nothing without a preview, a person’s approval, one attempt and a readback. Never a blind retry.
- Check whether it worked.
- The advice is only half the job. The other half is coming back later to see what the change actually did.
